Students in the Apparel and Merchandising undergraduate program are encouraged to participate in the department-coordinated internship program that involves a full-time, twelve week (i.e., 12-credit) professional experience with nationally and internationally recognized firms and organizations in the apparel industry or a related field. The internship is intended to provide students with real life experience in design, product development, merchandising, sourcing, retailing, and promotions/public relations with supervision from industry professionals. Over the years, students have participated in internships with companies including Betsy Johnson, Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren, Target, and non-profit organizations such as Ten Thousand Villages and Women in Progress. Students are required to have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in order to participate in the internship program.
