For the third consecutive year, the American Society of Interior Designers Student Chapter at Colorado State University received the National Award for Student Chapter of the Year from ASID.
ASID hosted SCALE: the ASID Student Summit at the University of Oklahoma from March 31 to April 2. The Summit included the ASID Student Chapter Awards, which recognizes achievement among ASID student chapters and includes top-notch speakers, hands-on engagement opportunities, and professional development and networking events.
To be nominated for the award, the CSU ASID Student Chapter had to display exceptional quality of work, as well as service and commitment in their activities over the last academic year. The CSU student chapter was recognized for its dedication to networking, community service, education, fundraising and growth in their chapter. It was a team effort by the student chapter board and members to achieve their many accomplishments over the past year.
Kristen Krueger, president of the CSU student chapter, has contributed greatly to the club's success. As president, she delegates responsibilities, drafts agendas, runs meetings, facilitates her team's work on events, supports her officers and board, and communicates with industry professionals. Earlier this month, Krueger traveled to Oklahoma to accept the award at SCALE on the chapter's behalf.
"SCALE was truly an unparalleled experience. Being able to network with both industry professionals and interior design students from all over the United States was a rare experience," said Krueger. "It exposed me to many different perspectives that I can now bring back to the chapter at CSU."
'Thrilled to be recognized'
Stephanie Clemons, the faculty adviser for the CSU student chapter, works closely with Krueger and helps brainstorm ideas for chapter activities and events. She provides professional connections, inspiration and guidance, working with Krueger to review meeting agendas and support events.
"It is unheard of to win this prestigious and competitive national award three times!" said Clemons. "I was over the moon on behalf of our students. There are over 200 student chapters at colleges and universities across our nation; all connected to an ASID professional chapter. We are thrilled to be recognized with this award once again."
